OneWheel Battery Firmware Upgrade Setup

Use this guide when installing an upgraded OneWheel battery pack that requires firmware rollback, rewheeling, community app setup, and accurate battery percentage reporting.

Before you begin

Upgraded OneWheel battery packs can provide extended range, but some stock firmware versions may block larger batteries. The setup process is typically firmware rollback first, rewheeling second, then mobile app setup.

This guide is intended for customers installing the Nexus Pint Plus Onewheel Pint Battery Upgrade or a similar upgraded battery pack.

Confirm why the setup is needed

Some OneWheel firmware versions can block or limit upgraded battery packs. If your board will not work correctly with the larger battery, start by rolling the board back to compatible firmware before installing community firmware.

Review both videos fully before starting so you understand the order of operations.

Roll back the firmware

Use the first video for the firmware rollback process:

Keep the board powered and do not interrupt the process while the firmware is being changed.

Rewheel the board

After the rollback, use the second video to rewheel the board. Rewheeling replaces the stock firmware with aftermarket community firmware so the controller can work with the upgraded battery setup.

Install the Nexus Plug and Play OWIE Chip for accurate battery percentage

If you want the board to show an accurate battery percentage with the larger pack, install the Nexus Plug and Play OWIE Chip.

The chip stops communication from the stock OneWheel BMS to the controller and overwrites that data with the correct battery percentage for the upgraded pack. Without it, the board may run correctly but still show inaccurate state-of-charge information.

Final check before riding

Before riding, confirm the rollback completed, the board was rewheeled, the correct app connects, the upgraded battery is installed securely, and the OWIE chip is installed if accurate battery percentage readings are required.

Start with a careful low-speed test ride and monitor the board data in the app.
